Keep it Simple

Many recipes call for adding vinegar, or starting with eggs in cold water. I find that while adding a touch of vinegar won’t hurt, it isn’t necessary. Use this exact method every time, and you will get consistently good results. The eggs will be easy to peel, and the yolks won’t be over or under cooked.

Lots of Uses

There are many uses for hard boiled eggs. Master this technique, and you will open the door to many delicious recipes, like egg salad, potato salad, chef’s salad, deviled eggs, and much more. Heck, they even taste great all by themselves with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Fresh is Best

Farm fresh eggs are much better than grocery store eggs. Especially if you can find eggs laid by free-range hens. The flavor is vastly superior. Free range chickens have a much better diet, which results in a much better egg. That being said, farm fresh eggs should rest for 3-4 days before you attempt to boil them.

According to this article on http://ruled.me, the younger the egg, the more tightly the membrane will cling on to the inside of shell. This makes it much easier to peel. You can tell that an egg is ready to use if when dunked in water they will stand on end. If the eggs are too fresh, they will lay on their sides.

Health Benefits

There are many health benefits from consuming hard boiled eggs. For example, eggs can increase good cholesterol, and help with brain and eye health. Eggs help to keep bones strong, and to build and repair muscles. They are good for hair, and immunity. Because they are high in lean protein, eating eggs will make you feel full, which can help to limit calorie intake. Therefore, it can help with weight loss.
