Equipment

  • baking sheet, or small cast-iron saucepan
  • foil
  • cutting board
  • serrated steak knife

Ingredients
  

  • 1 head garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400℉
  • Keeping the garlic head intact, carefully slice off the top ½ inch. You will need a very sharp knife, or serrated like a steak knife.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the top of the garlic head so that it gets into each clove.
  • Wrap in foil, put onto a baking sheet, and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Squeeze the garlic out of each clove, then mince.
  • Yields about 1 rounded tbsp of roasted garlic.
