Ingredients
  

  • 6 ounce bacon - unflavored, diced
  • 1 small red onion - chopped
  • 2 clove garlic - finely chopped
  • cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Bourbon whisky
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions
 

  • Sauté chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until crisp, about 15 minutes.
  • Add 1 chopped small red onion and 2 chopped garlic cloves. Sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Add 1/3 cup cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons each brown sugar, bourbon and water; simmer until the liquid is almost evaporated, about 15 minutes. 
  • Add a splash of bourbon, stir in. Season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne.
