Herbs de Provence is a traditional blend of dried herbs that was originally created in the Provence region in the South of France. It is a key ingredient in French cuisine, used frequently to season meats, vegetables, sauces, soups, and stews. It tastes wonderful when used to season roasted chicken. Use this recipe to make a large batch, so that you always have some on hand.

Variations
Some folks will add other ingredients such as lavender, chervil, or fennel. I prefer the simple blend outlined in this recipe.
Fragrant and Flavorful
Herbs de Provence has a delicious, but somewhat unusual flavor. It is slightly sweet and interestingly aromatic.
Many Uses
Amazingly versatile, it works wonderfully with grilled, or roasted meats, vegetables, or fish. Blend it with oil to make a terrific marinade or salad dressing. Add a pinch to Beefy Italian Vegetable Soup, or Rustic Beef Stew to give it a deliciously different, yet comfortingly familiar flavor.
Makes a Great Dip for Bread
Mix my Tuscan Spice Blend with olive oil to make a terrific dip for Italian Bread. Similarly, mix Herbs de Provence olive oil to make a delicious dip for French Baguettes.
