Tex-Mex Spice Blend

Tex-Mex Spice Blend

Introduction

Tex-Mex Spice blend is a simple combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder and cumin that adds authentic flavor to Tex-Mex meals. It is one of my go-to spice blends that I always keep on-hand. It works wonders for Chicken or Beef Fajitas, homemade Tortilla Chips, Frijoles, and much more. Here’s how you can make some for yourself:

Works best when slightly browned during cooking. I keep plenty of this ready to go. It can be used on just about anything Tex-Mex.

More Information

Tex-Mex Spice Blend adds salt and pepper, so be careful when using it. Leave out the salt and pepper in your recipes when using it or risk over-seasoning your meals.

When using this spice blend, add it directly to the oil and let it toast for 20-30 seconds before adding meat or vegetables. This will allow for the oils in the cumin and garlic powder to emerge, and release their flavors and aromas into the dish.

I keep a jar of Tex-Mex Spice Blend next to my stove so that I always have some handy. You will be amazed at how versatile it is. I add this stuff to everything!
