Introduction
Here is my take on the traditional Cuban sandwich. Smoked pulled pork, Virginia ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard pressed into a delicious panini sandwich. It’s so good, when you taste it you will exclaim, ‘Hey Lucy, I’m home!‘.
The Desi Arnaz Sandwich Recipe
The Desi Arnaz
Cuban-style panini sandwich
Equipment
- Panini sandwich press
- butter knife
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 cuban bread roll
- 2 slice Swiss cheese
- 1 ounce Virginia ham – sliced
- 4 ounce Smoked Pulled Pork
- 6 slice Hamburger dill pickle
Instructions
- Preheat sandwich press to 450℉.
- Brush Cuban bread crust with butter. In this example I used bolillo bread because I could not find Cuban bread at my grocery store. Cuban bread would be much better if you could find it or bake it yourself. But, the bolillo still made for a great sandwich!
- Spread mustard onto both halves of the bread.
- Add a slice of Swiss cheese to both sides.
- Add the ham to both sides.
- Add the pulled pork to one half, and pickle slices to the other half.
- Press together until the cheese melts, and grill marks develop on the bread.
- Slice in half and serve hot.
Notes
I love this sandwich, it tastes so good! It’s a great way to use leftover Smoked Pulled Pork.
